For community purposes: yes, I am well over 18. I was born in 1980 which makes me a robust 30. I simply haven't included the day and month for security reasons. :3

Jo is a theatre worker turned writer and journalist who lives in a Red State notoriously located somewhere between California and Nebraska. She likes intelligent discussion, rooms with a view, and moonlit walks along the beach. Especially if the jelly fish are out.

I have dual honors BAs in English and Theatre, an addiction to work and literature, and a rather unthealthy interest in the Old West, the Elizabethan/Jacobean era and its theatre, Mormon history, folklore and fairy tales, theatre history, academia, investigative journalism and human anatomy. I am what happens to good people when they are given books and left to their own devices. Fear me.

I spend most of my time writing or wishing I was writing, which makes my non-writing work...interesting. I've lived all over the United States and have many intersting stories about each region which I will probably tell some day, and probably tell here. Many of them are about Jo's Wild Years on the wicked stage.

Since disclaimers about friending are in fashion, if not obligatory, here's mine: I tend to friend everyone who friends me unless your journal is 1) entirely empty, 2) exclusively written in a language I can't understand, which would be everything but English and Spanish, though I can fake my way a little through Italian (I mean, what's the point of communicating if we can't talk to each other, yeah? :3 or 3) filled with quizes/memes/color bars and nothing but. I love meeting new people, even though I can get busy at times and a little slow/non responsive in comments. My LJ comment policy is pretty loose, but I ask that you please not derail or hijack posts by adding comments that have nothing at all to do with the subject at hand, especially if you're trying to reach me. A better way to do that is by PM or email. I am not a hard person to contact, folks :).

This Be The Verse:

"Happiness is a prison, Evey. Happiness is the most insidious prison of all."
- Alan Moore, V for Vendetta

"Happiness is always a by-product. It is probably a matter of temperament, and for anything I know it may be glandular. But it is not something that can be demanded from life, and if you are not happy you had better stop worrying about it and see what treasures you can pluck from your own brand of unhappiness."

- Robertson Davies
